Wonderful soft, golden light illuminated the skies surrounding Kirkjufell on my first sunse and first night in Iceland, 2017, with my good friend Shane Wheel.

A secret geo thermal location off the Ring Road. Sulfur plumes were inescapable and the aftermath of this image was a light headed, woozy walk back to the car…totally worth it. I really enjoyed this sunset and getting away from the beaten path. We had the entire location to ourselves.
Same evening and location as prior, maybe a few hundred yards away and about an hour later in the evening. These geothermal pits were really something else, and the diversity of the colors in the muds was incredible.
Well, the day was off and on sunny. We were lucky to have a long break in the weather when we arrived at the foot of the popular Svartifoss.

This was also during my first trip around the ring road with ShaneWheel.com - this is Reynisfjara / Black Sand Beach aka Vik. This was a super moody day, with just glimmers of light for a minute or two here and there.
Something about this picture to me feels like silence and serenity. The soft hues and water movement in the foreground really put my mind at ease. This is shot the same day as the prior shot from Reynisfjara / Vik.
Really dig this waterfall, Folaldafoss. Just a quick stop off the ring road. Really gorgeous glacial hues in the water.
